Karachi traffic police launch crackdown after viral dumper video
Karachi Traffic Police launched a large-scale crackdown on dumper trucks after a viral video showed a driver speeding recklessly on Shahrah-e-Faisal and evading a patrolling unit that attempted to stop the vehicle.
According to a spokesperson for Karachi Traffic Police, the video revealed the dumper driver flouting multiple traffic laws and refusing to halt when signalled by the authorities.
A targeted crackdown was launched late last night. During the operation, 142 dumpers were fined, 27 vehicles were impounded, and one driver was arrested. Legal proceedings have been initiated under Sections 99 and 113 of the Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965.
The traffic police confirmed the operation will continue until the vehicle and the driver from the viral incident are produced. “No one is above the law. They must submit to the rule of law,” the spokesperson said.
