At least 1,600 transgender citizens will be trained under the Technical Skills Training and Punjab Skills Development Fund Programmes.
In the first phase of the initiative, the participants will be trained in information technology and freelancing.
For the first time in Punjab, healthcare assistant skills training will be offered for transgender persons along with tailoring, fashion designing, electrical work, solar technology, beauty services and culinary arts.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said about the scheme, "Ruthless and callous attitude being meted out towards the transgender community is highly regrettable.
