
The Sindh government has extended the deadline for replacing old vehicle registration books with new security-featured smart cards until 15 May 2025.
The decision was announced by Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, who approved the extension to facilitate the public, Express News reported.
A formal notification has been issued by the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department.
Previously, the deadline to switch to smart registration cards was set for 3 April 2025.
Authorities have urged vehicle owners across the province to avail the extension and get their old documents updated before the new cutoff date.
The new smart cards are equipped with enhanced security features aimed at curbing forgery and ensuring digital recordkeeping.
