Kamran Qureshi, the father of Armaghan Qureshi — main accused in the Mustafa Amir murder case — alleged on Thursday that he was physically assaulted and threatened by police officers.

Speaking informally to media after a court appearance at the judicial complex in Karachi Central Jail, Qureshi claimed officers told him to “keep your mouth shut” and “talk to the media and you’ll be killed—at least you’ll go to heaven.”

He was produced before a judicial magistrate in an ongoing case involving alleged recovery of illegal arms and drugs.

During the hearing, Magistrate Shehzad Khawaja expressed displeasure at the absence of the investigating officer and the missing charge sheet. The court issued a show-cause notice to the officer and adjourned proceedings until April 16.

Qureshi’s defence counsel, Khurram Abbas Awan, claimed the arrest was shown on March 20, though his client was taken into custody on March 16. He also alleged receiving threats from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The FIA, present in court, requested physical remand to interrogate Qureshi further. The judge directed them to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the relevant court.

Outside the courtroom, Qureshi reiterated he had been assaulted and silenced, adding, “I told them to kill me—at least I’ll go to heaven.”
