
Six members of family drowned when a rickshaw plunged into a canal after being hit by a tractor in Swabi.
The bodies of the six family members were recovered by Tuesday morning. The victims include an elderly mother, her daughter, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
According to reports, 14 family members of Asota Sharif, including women and children, were traveling in a rickshaw to visit their relatives in the Bakar area on Monday evening. On their way back, the rickshaw collided with a tractor trolley near the Gohati canal and fell into water.
All 14 people on board were swept away by the canal waters. Local residents and rescue teams managed to rescue eight people alive. However, six family members lost their lives in the accident.
The bodies of two women and one child were recovered on Monday evening, while the bodies of two more children were retrieved late night. The body of the sixth victim, a child, was recovered on Tuesday morning.
The deceased include a 60-year-old woman, her 30-year-old married daughter, 11-year-old grandson Muhammad Bilal, 2-year-old grandson Muhammad Tauheed, 24-year-old daughter-in-law, and 2-year-old granddaughter Bismah.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the village, with six funerals taking place simultaneously, leaving the community in mourning.
