RAWALPINDI:

A girl and a 19-year-old boy were killed allegedly by the former's brother for honour in the Dhamial area of Rawalpindi on Monday. The victim girl wanted to marry the man of her choice.

The police registered a case and started raids to arrest the runaway suspect.

Wasim Khalid of Kallar Syedan, a close relative of the deceased boy, complained to the police that 19-year-old Haider Ali, who is the son of complainant's late paternal cousin, and Kanwal alias Laiba, a resident of Pirwadhai, wanted to marry.

The matter of their marriage was under discussion. On Sunday, Haider was contacted by the family of Kanwal, for visit to Kanwal's maternal uncle Irfan Sharif's house in Pind Dadu to discuss and finalise the marriage proposal.

According to the complainant, he along with Haider Ali and his mother, reached the house of Irfan and started discussing the matter. During the course of time, Kanwal's brother Abdul Wahab turned up there and started abusing the guests, forcibly locked them in the room, and returned with a weapon after an hour.

Upon arrival, the suspect asked Haider and Kanwal to accompany him to the roof. As soon as they reached the stairs, Abdul Wahab opened fire at Haider and Kanwal, killing them on the spot.
