ISLAMABAD:

The wildfire that broke out in the Lohi Dandi and Romli areas of Margalla Hills National Park was brought under control through the combined efforts of Capital Development Authority (CDA) firefighters, district administration and local volunteers.

Despite the challenging terrain and footpaths, more than 51 firefighters and CDA personnel responded, preventing the fire from spreading further. CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa stated that under the supervision of the CDA Environment Wing officers and the swift actions of firefighters, the fire was contained to a limited area.

He emphasised that the seamless coordination between CDA staff, firefighters, district administration, and volunteers played a crucial role in controlling the crisis.

"Modern technology, including drones, was used to extinguish the fire, and the control room was fully operational for monitoring the operation," he said.

The CDA chairman further said that a quick rehabilitation plan is being developed for the restoration of the affected wildlife areas and the protection of wildlife.

He assured that every effort would be made to preserve the natural beauty and environmental balance of Margalla Hills.

Additionally, an investigation into the cause of the fire has been ordered. Mohammad Ali Randhawa appealed to the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to contact the CDA control room at 1122 in case of an emergency.

He also informed that, in view of the summer season, modern machinery and personnel have been deployed 24/7 to monitor Margalla Hills.
