1923 star Brandon Sklenar has teased that the Season 2 finale of the hit Yellowstone prequel will hit viewers "very, very hard," leaving them in tears.
Appearing at the Deadline Contenders Television 2025 event on April 5, 2025, Sklenar, who plays Spencer Dutton, promised a gut-wrenching conclusion to the season’s dramatic arc.
In a panel discussion alongside co-stars Julia Schlaepfer and Aminah Nieves, Sklenar said, “That finale hits very, very hard.” Schlaepfer, who portrays Alexandra Dutton, added, “It’s a movie, and you get everything and more out of the two-hour finale.”
The much-anticipated 1923 finale, set to air on Sunday, April 6, will follow a bloodbath in Episode 6, which saw the deaths of seven characters.
Among them was the sadistic Father Renaud, played by Sebastian Roche, who met his end at the hands of Teonna Rainwater, portrayed by Aminah Nieves.
The series, set in the early 20th century, follows the Dutton family’s struggle to protect their Montana ranch from threats like cattle thieves and a ruthless land baron.
In addition to Spencer Dutton’s romantic and emotional turmoil, the season also explores the harrowing journey of Teonna, who escapes a Catholic boarding school for Native American children.
Sklenar’s character, Spencer Dutton, has been caught in a tense storyline, with his wife Alexandra on the brink of death from a snowstorm.
Schlaepfer described the filming of the snowstorm scene, which was shot in a scorching 100-degree environment in Austin, Texas, saying, “It was amazing, scary, but empowering as an actor.”
While Sheridan’s hands-off approach to Season 2 filming allowed the cast more freedom, Schlaepfer noted that creator Taylor Sheridan did provide feedback later in the season. “He’s like, ‘I’m just starting to watch it. It’s great,’” she recalled.
Fans can expect an action-packed and emotional finale to 1923 as Season 2 comes to a close with intense drama and heart-wrenching moments.
