Disney’s ‘Tron: Ares’ trailer features high-speed action, digital rebels, and Leto’s new hero

Disney drops first trailer for Tron: Ares, the third film in the franchise, set to release in theaters on October 10, 2025. 

Leading the cast is Jared Leto as Ares, a rogue program from the digital world who ventures into the real world for a mission that could reshape both realms. The trailer opens with a dramatic chase as rogue programs speed through the city on iconic light cycles, outmaneuvering police and slicing through vehicles with their signature energy walls.

Jeff Bridges reprises his role as Kevin Flynn, though he only appears as a voice in the trailer. His character speaks to Ares during a digitization sequence, saying, “Ready? Cause there’s no going back.”

The star-studded cast also features Evan Peters as Julian Dillinger — a character with ties to the original film's villain Ed Dillinger — along with Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson.

Adding to the film’s anticipation, acclaimed composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails are scoring the film. Known for their Oscar-winning work on The Social Network and Soul, the duo promises an immersive sonic experience that blends industrial and electronic elements.

Tron: Ares marks Disney’s continued expansion of its beloved digital universe, bringing the Grid into a new era.
