Well-known Pashto comedian Mirawas Khan passed away on Thursday after a prolonged illness.

Hailing from Abazai in the Charsadda district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Mirawas was renowned for his simple yet impactful comedic style.

He began his career in the 1980s and, even before his appearance on PTV, had already gained widespread popularity among locals through the release of dozen of audio cassettes, followed by several video cassettes.

He was a beloved performer in hujra gatherings in his native village, where his sharp humour made him a favourite across all age groups.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant Zahid Chanzeb expressed deep grief over the passing of the legendary comedian. Offering his condolences to the bereaved family, he remarked that the void left by Mirawas can never be filled, as he brought joy to countless people through his performances. He further acknowledged Mirawas's immense contributions to the Pashto entertainment industry, highlighting his work in over 800 Pashto comedy albums.
