In a significant move to provide relief to consumers, the Prime Minister has announced a reduction in electricity prices, with the new tariffs set to take effect immediately. The latest report details the revised electricity rates for various consumer categories.

For lifeline consumers, the electricity tariff has been set at Rs4.78 per unit. Domestic consumers using up to 100 units will now pay Rs9.37 per unit, while protected consumers who use 100 units will face a rate of Rs8.52 per unit. Consumers using up to 200 units will be charged Rs11.51 per unit.

For higher consumption categories, non-protected consumers using 300 units will pay Rs34.03 per unit. Non-protected Time of Use (TOU) consumers will face a higher rate of Rs48.46 per unit.

The average tariff for domestic consumers has been set at Rs31.63 per unit. For commercial consumers, the new rate is Rs62.47 per unit, while general services will be charged Rs49.48 per unit.

For industrial and agricultural use, industrial consumers will now pay Rs40.51 per unit, and agricultural consumers will face a rate of Rs34.58 per unit.

The new rates also apply to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), where electricity tariffs are set at Rs32.69 per unit. Public lighting will also be charged at the same rate.

The average national tariff has been fixed at Rs37.64 per unit, offering a clearer picture of the new pricing structure.
