RAWALPINDI:

A good number of people including women and children visited the graveyards in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad in the three days of Eidul Fitr to pay homage and perform special prayers and dua at the graves of their loved ones.

All 107 small and large cemeteries in the twin cities were thoroughly cleaned and were adorned with flower petals, flowers, incense sticks, rose water, and candles. Not only did they shine brightly, but they also remained fragrant.

On the first day of Eid, citizens headed to the cemeteries after the Fajr prayer. The graves in both small and large cemeteries were decorated with flower petals, while the fragrance of incense sticks filled the cemeteries. Vendors at graveyards sold flower petals at Rs600 per kilogram.

On Eid morning, after offering Fajr prayer, citizens, accompanied by their families, visited the cemeteries. They scattered flower petals on the graves of their parents and loved ones who are in eternal rest.

In the atmosphere of tears, they recited the Holy Quran and made heartfelt prayers for their loved ones. Men, women, children, and the elderly all visited the cemeteries to offer prayers and give "Eidi" to their departed loved ones.

The flow of visitors to the cemeteries continued until the evening. Flower petals were sold for Rs600 per kg, artificial flower cover for graves were sold for Rs800 per piece, fresh flower cover for graves for Rs1,600 per piece, incense packet for Rs250, and rose water bottle were sold for Rs200.
