LAHORE:

The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the installation of temporary mechanical swings across the province during Eid, citing public safety concerns.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, the decision aims to prevent accidents and protect lives, as large crowds, including children, are expected to visit recreational spots during the holidays. The ban will be enforced province-wide, and Deputy Commissioners have been directed to ensure compliance. However, permanently installed mechanical swings will be allowed to operate, provided they obtain a valid fitness certificate.

Authorities have mandated that all permanent amusement rides must undergo safety inspections and meet regulatory standards. Deputy Commissioners will be responsible for verifying compliance before issuing operational permits.

Additionally, the Punjab Home Department has established a central control room to monitor security and enforce government directives during Eid.

The control room will operate round-the-clock, coordinating with district administrations to maintain law and order. Senior officials will remain on duty throughout the holidays to oversee safety measures.
