SZA reacts to Chappell Roan calling her a dream collaborator: 'Pls we must'
SZA is officially down for a Chappell Roan collab—and she’s not being subtle about it.
After Roan called the ‘Kill Bill’ hitmaker her dream collaboration on a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, SZA jumped on Instagram Stories Wednesday (March 26) to share her excitement. “Actually didn’t believe this quote when I saw it written til I saw it come out her mouth just now ’cause DEAD A– SAME,” she wrote over a clip of Roan speaking.
She sealed the deal with an enthusiastic “pls we must” followed by a flurry of sparkle emojis, giving fans the green light to start manifesting a track between the two genre-bending artists.
SZA has long been a fan of Roan’s work. After Roan’s set at Lollapalooza last summer, SZA took to her Instagram Stories to praise the rising star, writing, “She makes me wanna keep making new music n art forever.”
Roan isn't the only potential creative partner on SZA’s radar. The singer recently appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and opened up about her admiration for Taylor Swift, recalling their moment at the Grammys. “Every time she walks up to me or approaches me, I’m just like, ‘All right, this is happening, because that’s fully Taylor Swift,’” SZA said.
She also revealed she floated the idea of collaborating with Swift. “I think I mentioned that I would love to write with her and build some things together. I love her storytelling. She was open to it. I think she’s awesome. She’s so bossed up,” SZA added.
In that same interview, she gave shout-outs to Roan, Gracie Abrams, Lola Young, Doechii, and Olivia Rodrigo, naming them as her favorite singer-songwriters who use music as a medium for rich storytelling.
With mutual love flowing between SZA and Roan—and Taylor Swift not far from the conversation—2025 might just be the year we get a dream collab (or two).
