A meeting held on Tuesday to discuss the legal framework of Danish University concluded that it would be an autonomous institution, independently managed from the government, with a focus on research, development, and applied sciences.
The meeting was convened on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and was chaired by Law Azam Nazeer Tarar. It was attended by the chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and other senior officials.
Discussions included the establishment of an endowment fund to provide quality and internationally recognised education to talented students facing financial difficulties. The participants reaffirmed the university's emphasis on research, development, and applied sciences.
Tarar emphasised that the university would be an autonomous institution, independently managed from the government, adding that its legal structure would be developed on modern lines to align with the standards of the world's top universities.
"Successful educational models from around the world are being reviewed to shape Danish University into a globally competitive institution. A comprehensive legal framework is being developed to create an ideal academic environment for future students," said an official handout.
According to the handout, the law minister stated that all legal and administrative aspects would be carefully considered before finalising the framework as soon as possible, ensuring the swift implementation of this initiative.
