Indian comedian Samay Raina has admitted that the controversy surrounding his show, India’s Got Latent, has severely affected his mental health and impacted his recent Canada tour.
Raina, who had travelled to Canada after the controversy erupted in February, returned to Mumbai and recorded his statement with Maharashtra Cyber Police after multiple summons. He expressed regret for his remarks, acknowledging they were inappropriate and unintended.
"I realise that what I said was wrong. It happened in the flow of the show, and I had no intention of saying it," Raina told the officials. "I will be more cautious in the future to ensure this doesn't happen again."
The controversy began when Indian YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as Beer Biceps, made offensive comments during an episode of Raina's show.
Although Allahbadia later apologised for his remarks, a complaint was lodged against both him and Raina, along with other individuals involved in the show.
Raina reiterated his apology, saying, “My mental state is not well due to this case. My Canada tour didn’t go well either,” emphasising the toll the incident had taken on him.
