A social media post calling Dhanashree Verma a “gold digger” following her divorce from Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has sparked controversy online, particularly after Ritika Sajdeh, wife of Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, appeared to ‘like’ the viral video.
The video, posted by a cricket-themed fan page, features journalist Shubhankar Mishra criticising Dhanashree Verma over reports that she accepted $550,000 (₹4.75 crore) in alimony.
In the clip, Mishra questions Verma’s claim of being a “self-made woman” while also referencing Chahal’s recent appearance wearing a T-shirt that read “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.”
Shubhankar Mishra states, “You shouldn’t be bothered by people calling you a gold digger if you’re accepting money.”
The post, titled “Harsh reality of today’s world,” gained significant attention after fans noticed Ritika Sajdeh had liked the video.
Screenshots of her activity circulated widely on social media, with users expressing surprise. Comments such as “Ritika bhabhi liked” and “Alimony 4.5 crore while she has 6 million followers” flooded the post.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma, who married in December 2020, reportedly began living separately in mid-2022 and filed for divorce earlier this year. Their separation was finalised by a family court in Bandra on March 20, 2025.
While multiple reports had earlier speculated that Verma had demanded $7 million (₹ 60 crore) in alimony, her family issued a statement denying the claims, calling them “baseless and unverified.”
“There is no truth to these rumours whatsoever. It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information… We urge the media to exercise restraint and respect everyone’s privacy,” the statement said.
Verma, a choreographer and social media influencer with over six million followers, has not yet responded to the renewed criticism or Ritika Sajdeh’s interaction with the viral post.
As of now, neither Rohit Sharma nor Yuzvendra Chahal has publicly commented on the matter.
