PESHAWAR:

The rush in women's markets has increased manifold in the city with the approach of Eidul Fitr.

Along with clothes, many items such as bangles, nail polish, and other accessories are in high demand, and women and children can be seen shopping at both small and large markets.

Shopkeepers, however, are charging exorbitant prices, making it difficult for women to shop due to already high inflation.

Locals said that, compared to last year, Eid shopping had decreased this year due to higher prices.

Moreover, the increased crowds in markets have led to a rise in incidents of missing children.

On the other hand, people unable to have their Eid outfits stitched on time have now turned to purchasing ready-made clothing.

In the city, men's clothing markets now remain open till Sehri, attracting a large number of shoppers.

Traditionally, people prefer getting new clothes stitched for Eid but, due to the heavy rush, tailors have stopped taking new orders.

Markets like Saddar Bazaar, University Road, and other commercial centres are witnessing a surge in ready-made outfit sales.

However, prices of branded clothes have skyrocketed, making it difficult for many to afford them.
