Luis Ruelas, husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, has been hit with a massive $2.5 million tax lien from the state of New Jersey.
Court records confirm that as of March 6, 2025, Ruelas owes more in taxes than his reported net worth.
This tax debt is the latest in a series of financial woes for Ruelas. His business ventures have faced significant setbacks, including a company bankruptcy and a $300,000 lawsuit over an alleged failed investment. In addition, he reportedly took out a $1 million loan against his and Giudice’s marital mansion, raising further concerns about their financial stability.
Giudice has also struggled with tax debt. At one point, she owed over $1 million to the state, and while she has paid off a substantial portion, she still had a remaining balance of more than $600,000 as of late 2023.
Fans of RHONJ have long speculated about Ruelas' financial standing, with many questioning how he funds his lifestyle. His growing tax debt could impact Giudice’s future on the show, as she continues to express interest in returning for Season 15.
With legal and financial troubles mounting, Ruelas and Giudice may soon be forced to make tough financial decisions.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is currently streaming on Peacock.
