An attempt to capture the perfect wedding photo ended in a terrifying accident for an Indian-origin couple, Vicky and Pia, who had travelled from Canada to India for their wedding celebrations.
According to Indian media reports, the couple had planned a colorful photoshoot using a color bomb—a device that explodes to release vibrant powder, creating a visually stunning background. However, the device malfunctioned during the shoot, directly hitting the bride and causing burn injuries to her back and hair.
The incident occurred between their wedding and reception events. A viral video, shared by the couple on Instagram, shows the exact moment the malfunction took place. In the video, the groom lifts the bride for a photo, when the color bomb explodes incorrectly, striking the bride instead of creating a scenic backdrop.
In their caption, the couple wrote, “Our plan was to create a beautiful backdrop with vibrant color explosions. But the device malfunctioned and exploded directly on us. We were even planning to include our baby in the photo.”
The bride had to be rushed to a nearby hospital where she received immediate treatment for her burns. Despite the incident, the couple attended their wedding reception after receiving medical care.
The viral Instagram post—now viewed over 22 million times—has drawn widespread attention, with social media users expressing concern, support, and prayers for the bride’s swift recovery.
The couple also used the post to issue a public warning: “This post is to raise awareness about the dangers of using color bombs and similar explosive devices. We followed all safety protocols, yet something went wrong. Whether or not you believe in the evil eye, we certainly do now!”
