KARACHI:

Street criminals robbed and killed a 22-year-old medical store owner in a shooting in Korangi.

The incident sparked outrage among residents who criticised the police's performance, demanding the home minister appoint officers who can ensure the protection of citizens' lives and property.

The incident took place in Zaman Town when two robbers on a motorcycle looted the victim, identified as Sohaib. According to eyewitnesses, the robbers wore masks to conceal their identities, shooting Sohaib when he resisted.

SSP Korangi revealed that the victim was the only child of his parents and died from a bullet wound to the shoulder. The SSP claimed that the police would soon arrest the culprits.

Robbers have killed at least 22 people and injured dozens, some left paralysed for life, in various incidents of snatching so far this year. Citizens say police have failed to protect them.
