
A married couple was shot dead in the name of honour in Khiwal within the limits of Saddar Police Station.
The victims included a 25-year-old woman from Sehgalabad village and her 26-year-old husband, who was the nephew of her former husband. The woman was previously married to a man from Guffanwala, with whom she had three daughters. She later divorced him, and in November 24, she married his 26-year-old nephew with whom she had been living in Rawalpindi.
The incident occurred while the couple was traveling from Rawalpindi to Sehgalabad on a motorcycle when two unknown men on another motorcycle fired at them near Khiwal, killing them instantly. Chakwal DPO Lieutenant Retired Ahmed Mohiuddin took immediate notice of the incident.
According to initial reports that came in at 3.15 pm, Zeeshan Ali, aged 26, and an unidentified 25-year-old woman, who were husband and wife, were shot dead by unknown assailants.
DSP Investigation, DSP Organised Crime, Saddar Circle SDPO, Saddar SHO Police Station and a heavy police contingent arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. The Crime Scene Unit and PFSA team were also called to the scene to collect evidence, and the bodies were taken into custody and shifted to DHQ Hospital by Rescue 1122 for post-mortem.
