ISLAMABAD:

Citizens on Monday called on the administration of the federal capital to take strict action against professional beggars who are exploiting the generosity of innocent people outside mosques.

According to the residents, these beggars are taking advantage of the holy month of Ramazan, using various tactics to capture the attention of worshipers.

Riaz Alam, a local citizen, stated, "A large number of beggars, including men, women, and children, are seen outside mosques, particularly during prayer times." Afterward, they move to other busy spots like traffic signals and streets to beg for money.

Worshipers noted that besides other locations, a significant number of professional beggars are always present at Shah Faisal Mosque.

"They not only create a nuisance during Namaz and Iftar times, but they also pose a potential security threat," said one worshiper. Aslam Aman added, "Some worshippers have reported being harassed or intimidated by aggressive beggars, which disrupts their spiritual experience."

The mosque administration and local authorities are urged to increase security measures and implement effective strategies to deter professional begging in the area. Sakina Bibi, a worshiper at Shah Faisal Mosque, expressed her frustration, saying, "It's really annoying to see these professional beggars every time we come to pray.

They are not genuinely in need; they are just taking advantage of the mosque's charitable atmosphere."
