Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe Kardashian made a whirlwind trip to Mumbai in July last year to attend the extravagant wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The latest episode of their reality show, The Kardashians, offers a behind-the-scenes look at their 48-hour adventure, with Kim admitting that she doesn't personally know the Ambani family.
In the episode, Kim reveals that her connection to the wedding came through renowned jeweller Lorraine Schwartz, who works closely with the Ambanis. "I actually don't know the Ambanis. We definitely have friends in common," Kim shared. She further explained, "Schwartz is one of our good friends. She does jewellery for the Ambani family. She told me she was going to their wedding and they would love to invite us. We just went on a whim and said, 'sure.'"
Adding to the extravagance of the event, Kim and Khloe discussed the lavish wedding invitation they received. The invitation, they noted, was no ordinary card - it weighed around 40-50 pounds (18-22 kgs) and even played music. Khloe remarked, "It was crazy! I think when we saw the invitation, we were like, you don't say no to something like this."
The Ambani wedding was a spectacle of grandeur, with global superstars like Rihanna and Justin Bieber performing at different events. Bollywood icons including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan also took part in the celebrations, making it one of the most talked-about weddings of the year.
Despite not knowing the Ambanis personally, the Kardashians were swept up in the sheer opulence of the affair, proving once again that no event is too far or too extravagant for Hollywood's most famous family.
