Meta has launched a new monetisation feature for Facebook users, allowing creators to earn money from public story views, the company announced.
The feature is available to creators who are already part of Facebook’s content monetisation programme. It enables them to generate income from content they have already created.
“For instance, if a user posts a cooking tutorial video or reel and shares part of it as a story, they can now earn from the story views as well,” Meta said.
Users can also monetise everyday content they share via stories. According to a Meta spokesperson, earnings will be based on content performance rather than a specific view threshold.
“This initiative aims to encourage creators to produce more content for Facebook,” the company stated.
Creators already enrolled in the monetisation programme will automatically benefit from the new feature without any additional steps. Facebook initially launched its content monetisation programme last year, inviting millions of users to join.
The company plans to expand the programme later this year, allowing more users to participate. Those who are not currently part of it can express interest through an invitation on Facebook’s monetisation website.
