Authorities on Friday decided to address security and environmental concerns in private housing societies in Rawalpindi. It was decided that strict measures will be implemented to ensure that no Afghan nationals, criminals, or terrorists are part of the security forces in these societies.
A meeting, held at the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) office in this regard, focused on the approval process for these housing schemes. The meeting, presided over by Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Abdul Amir Khattak, and Director-General RDA, Kanza Murtaza, was attended by representatives from 79 housing schemes. The primary focus of the meeting was to enhance security measures within private housing societies.
The Commissioner emphasised the government's serious concerns regarding security, particularly ensuring that no Afghan nationals, criminals, or terrorists are involved in security teams within these societies. He stressed that a thorough verification process is essential, and failure to implement this would result in severe legal action.
The representatives of the housing schemes acknowledged the challenges related to improving security measures and assured their full cooperation. Khattak instructed the RDA DG to oversee the implementation of these guidelines. The meeting also addressed land encroachment issues.
The RDA DG emphasised the need to immediately report any illegal land occupations to the RDA and local law enforcement, especially if private security personnel are involved in illegal activities.
A detailed discussion was held regarding security arrangements with the representatives of 79 housing schemes, including Al Amir City, Federation of Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Qurtuba City Extension, The Regents Farms, Gallup Greens Farmhouses, Al Makkah City, Al Mirage Garden, Ben Alam, Discovery Garden, and several others.
In conclusion, Murtaza urged all citizens, property developers, and housing society owners to ensure compliance with the relevant regulations and obtain necessary approvals to avoid potential legal actions.
