ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday vacated its stay order against the meeting of the High Powered Selection Board for the promotion of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers of Grade 21 to Grade 22 and allowed the board to take the decisions in one month's time.

IHC Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan heard the application of Grade 21 FBR officer Shah Bano Ghaznavi. The officer had moved the IHC against not being considered for the promotion to Grade 22. On the petition, the court had issued the stay order against the meeting of the selection board.

During the hearing, the judge remarked that the board's proceedings were still under way for other government departments, adding that the stay order on the promotion of officers of the FBR had been lifted. "Now the board should decide on the promotion of FBR officers within a month," he added.

The court had stated during the previous hearing of the petition on Wednesday, the judge asked the FBR's lawyer to instructions from the FBR and reply to the court's query whether the decision to send Ghaznavi to the admin pool was correct.
