PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has raised questions about the willingness of his own party's government to find an enduring solution to the crisis in Balochistan by adopting a broader view.
In a post on X, Rafique, who does not hold any government position in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's cabinet, described the March 11 hijacking of Jaffarabad Express by Baloch separatists as a "big tragedy".
He said the hijacking is a warning sign of the danger looming over the state. Rafique stated that Balochistan has become a volcanic zone, and the children of discontented groups have--knowingly or unknowingly--fallen into the hands of Pakistan's enemies.
He said with hidden and open support from external forces, armed separatist activities are increasing day by day. The PML-N leader, however, urged the powerful circles to try to find out the cause of this discontentment.
"Why is discussing this issue considered a crime? Should we just watch as the situation worsens? Should we continue mourning and burying our dead? Or should we remain silent spectators while Pakistan faces growing instability?" he asked.
He also questioned if the leadership was ready to listen, address the issue, and find a long-term solution. He also asked as to who the state should fight and who it should hold negotiation with.
"When, where, and how will this critical decision be made? Who will present a lasting political and economic solution, and when will it happen?" he asked.
Dozens of armed terrorists on March 11 hijacked Peshawar-bound Jaffarabad Express in Bolan district. Later, the security forces launched an operation and killed all the terrorists.
