Love won at last when Sajida Hallo married her fiancé, Imran Hallo, immediately after being released from a safe house where she had been kept by police on a court's orders to save her from her family.
The court gave her custody to her elder sister and within minutes, she and Imran were in front of a magistrate filling a court marraige form.
Sajida, a young girl, was engaged to a youth from her clan, Imran Hallo, and the two had grown to love each other. However, her father and uncle, driven by greed, decided to break the engagement and forced her to marry an elderly man, who was paying a handsome sum, in dower.
She had managed to escape from her family's clutches with Imran's help and sought refuge at the government-run Safe House. Meanwhile, Imran filed a case at the local police station, elaborating the threat to her life at the hands of her own parents.
Sajida, who hails from Kamhalo, Tehsil Kalo, was presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate Diplo, where she alleged that her family had tried to forcibly marry her to an old man after initially engaging her to Imran Hallo. She also claimed that her relatives had attempted to kill her twice by giving her poison when she refused to marry the old man.
Sajida stated that her father and uncle had initially engaged her to Imran Hallo and had even fixed a date for the wedding. However, as the wedding date approached, they refused to marry her to Imran and instead tried to forcibly marry her to an old man for the sake of money. After refusing to marry the old man, Sajida alleged that her relatives attempted to kill her by poisoning her on two separate occasions.
Sajida expressed her gratitude to the doctors who saved her life on both occasions. After leaving the shelter home, Sajida submitted her marriage certificate to the police. Imran had also filed a petition in court seeking protection for Sajida against the nefarious designs of her relatives.
