High Commissioner of Rwanda to Pakistan, Fatou Harerimana, on Monday, visited business hubs in Punjab to promote bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries in various sectors.

During her visit to business chambers in Sialkot, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Lahore, she highlighted the vast potential for trade collaboration in sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, medical equipment, and packaging. She engaged with industrial leaders to explore ways to expand bilateral trade.

"Pakistan and Rwanda are two emerging economies. We initiated dialogue with the local business community in important trade sectors including textiles and garments, education, pharmaceutical, coffee and tea, medical equipment, rice, packaging, sports , agriculture and discussed ways to expand bilateral relations in these sectors in the future," she said. The five-day tour began in Sialkot, where she visited industries specialising in surgical equipment, textiles, sports goods, and aviation apparel. She also met with the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to discuss trade expansion. She spoke at the University of Sialkot and explored cooperation in education, including potential student exchange programs.

In Gujranwala, Harerimana met with business leaders at the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and visited rice mills to explore trade opportunities in agriculture. She later toured Faisalabad's industrial sector, including Sitara Chemicals Industries and textile manufacturers, to discuss trade expansion.

The high commissioner also met with Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, who emphasised that Pakistan's private sector and business chambers could leverage Rwanda as a gateway to African markets.

In Lahore, she toured Sundar Industrial Estate and met with the LCCI to discuss trade opportunities. She attended the 1st FOODAG Manufacturing Exhibition, highlighting advancements in food and agricultural manufacturing.
