‘Harry Potter’ actor Simon Fisher-Becker dies at 63

Harry Potter and Doctor Who star Simon Fisher-Becker has passed away at 63, his husband confirmed on Facebook.

British actor Simon Fisher-Becker, best known for portraying the Fat Friar in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Dorium Maldovar in Doctor Who, has died at the age of 63.

His husband, Tony, confirmed his passing on March 9 via the actor’s Facebook page.

"Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon’s husband," he wrote. "I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away."

Fisher-Becker’s agent, Kim Barry, paid tribute to the actor, describing him as a talented writer, public speaker, and beloved friend. "He helped me out enormously and was always kind, gracious, and interested in everyone," she shared.

With over 50 acting credits, Fisher-Becker appeared in productions such as Les Misérables, Waterside, and Puppy Love. His portrayal of Dorium Maldovar in Doctor Who seasons five and six, as well as in audio dramas and fan films, cemented his status in sci-fi fandom.

Fans and colleagues have expressed their condolences, remembering him as a kind and talented performer.

Simon Fisher-Becker’s legacy in film, television, and theater will be remembered by fans worldwide.
