A 14-year-old boy was tragically electrocuted while attempting to collect cash thrown by guests during a wedding procession in Haryana, India.

The boy, identified as Himanshu, was a Class 8 student and the son of daily wage labourers. According to police, the incident occurred at Tyagi Farmhouse in Tajpur village, where a wedding procession from Rohtak was taking place. As part of the celebrations, guests in the wedding party, known as baraatis, were tossing money into the air.

Fascinated by the sight, Himanshu climbed onto the roof of the farmhouse to collect the scattered notes. Unfortunately, while on the roof, he came into contact with live electrical wires.

The shock was so severe that it immediately caught his body on fire. Eyewitnesses reported that the impact was so powerful that one of his feet was severed due to the force of the current. The boy was flung from the roof but was already dead by the time he fell to the ground.

Local police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and took the body into custody. Himanshu’s body was later sent for post-mortem and subsequently handed over to his grieving family.

The incident has left the community in shock, with many expressing sorrow at the boy’s tragic and untimely death. The local police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and that a case has been registered based on the family’s statement.

“This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the deadly consequences of not taking proper precautions around electrical wires,” said an investigating officer, Satish Kumar. “We urge everyone to exercise caution and ensure safety measures are in place during celebrations, especially when electricity lines are nearby.”

The family of Himanshu, who had been struggling financially, is now left to cope with the devastating loss.
