Netflix renews Meghan Markle's reality series for second season despite harsh reviews

Despite facing negative reviews, Netflix has renewed Meghan Markle’s reality series With Love, Meghan for a second season.
The show, which premiered on March 4 with eight episodes, has been met with harsh criticism. Reviewers have noted that the series feels overly manufactured, offering viewers a polished glimpse into Markle’s life while maintaining a carefully curated, controlled image. The concept of the show, which features Markle giving lifestyle tips while hosting friends and celebrities in a home that isn’t her own, has been criticized for lacking authenticity.
The debut of With Love, Meghan was overshadowed by another new project this week, Suits L.A., also receiving a tepid reception. However, despite the reviews, Netflix has already committed to a second season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming for the new season had already been completed before the series' launch, possibly contributing to the decision to move forward with the renewal.
While Markle’s content has generally been well-received by her fans, critics have pointed out a key issue: after removing the royal connections and drama, there is little left to make her truly compelling in this format. Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have both produced content for Netflix, with Markle’s latest show falling in line with the couple’s ongoing ventures, including their lifestyle brand, As Ever, which debuted alongside the series.
Despite the mixed reception, Netflix appears committed to continuing its collaboration with the couple, signaling that the second season of With Love, Meghan will likely be available later this year.
