Did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce start dating earlier than fans thought? Reality TV star Wes Bergmann claims he knew about their romance months before it became public.
Bergmann, a neighbor of Kelce’s, recently made waves with his comments on the Social Game Podcast. He claimed to have known about Swift and Kelce’s relationship long before she was first spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs game in September 2023. “I was like the first person to know about any of this stuff,” he told host Michele Fitzgerald, adding that he tried to tell her, but she didn’t believe him. Fitzgerald had been skeptical, insisting that Swift typically dated “brooding artists” rather than an “all-American football player.”
After his comments spread online, Bergmann quickly clarified that they were “taken out of context,” walking back his initial claim. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he explained that Kelce had only moved into his neighborhood in November 2023. “I told Michele, who is a giant fan, ‘Hey, this is serious,’” he wrote, explaining that Fitzgerald doubted him for six months—not that Swift and Kelce had secretly dated for that long.
While Bergmann’s remarks caused a stir, Swift had already addressed the timeline, confirming in a December 2023 Time interview that their romance began earlier than most realized. She revealed that they started “hanging out” shortly after Kelce mentioned her on his New Heights podcast. “By the time I went to that first game, we were already a couple,” she stated.
Regardless of when it began, the couple is now anything but private—Swift has been a regular at Chiefs games, while Kelce has traveled internationally to cheer her on.
