Macaulay Culkin became emotional after his younger brother, Kieran Culkin, won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the 2025 Academy Awards.

Speaking at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, Culkin revealed that the Best Supporting Actor category was the only part of the ceremony he watched, alongside his partner, actress Brenda Song. “That’s the only thing I watched. True story, true story… I cried,” Culkin shared with Entertainment Weekly.

Kieran Culkin took home the Oscar for his role in Jesse Eisenberg's critically acclaimed film A Real Pain. He won the award over Yura Borisov ("Anora"), Edward Norton ("A Complete Unknown"), and Guy Pearce ("The Brutalist"). Culkin had already established himself as the frontrunner during the awards season, earning wins at the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards, SAG Awards, and BAFTAs.

When asked if they expected Kieran to win, Brenda Song responded confidently, “Of course. Let’s be real. We’re allowed to say that.” Macaulay Culkin echoed her sentiment, pointing out that Kieran's seat in the front row, aisle-side, was a strong indication of his impending win.

Kieran, who started his career alongside Macaulay in films like Home Alone, also shared a heartfelt moment during his acceptance speech. He referenced his 2024 Emmy win for Succession and the promise his wife, Jazz Charton, made to have a third child if he won the Oscar. He joked, “No pressure,” and added that he hopes to expand his family, jokingly suggesting that he now expects four kids.

The Culkin brothers’ mutual support and family humor highlighted their strong bond at the Oscars, with Kieran’s win marking a significant milestone in his career.
