Chrissy Teigen surprised fans by admitting she has secretly battled an on-and-off smoking habit for years. Speaking at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, the 39-year-old revealed she has finally decided to quit "for the last time" after struggling to kick the addiction.
“I’m just furiously chewing Nicotine gum tonight,” she shared in an interview with Access Hollywood. “Don’t smoke! Smoking’s bad, stop now if you can. I’ve been an on-and-off smoker for too long. I have stopped for the last time, and I'm very proud of myself—but I'm also extremely on edge!”
While the revelation shocked some fans, Teigen has been open about her past struggles with alcohol. In 2021, she quit drinking and has remained sober since, marking milestones along the way.
“Not a drop of alcohol in 365 days!” she celebrated on Instagram in 2022. She admitted that drinking had worsened her anxiety, and quitting allowed her to gain clarity. “I drank to end crazy anxiety that later mostly went away when I—get this—quit drinking!” she wrote.
Teigen, who has been married to singer John Legend since 2013, shares four children with him: Luna, Miles, Wren, and Esti. She has spoken about wanting to set a healthy example for her family and embracing a lifestyle free from harmful habits.
“Waking up in the morning and being like, ‘Oh, what did I say?’—that feeling is not worth it,” she previously admitted, reflecting on her past drinking habits.
Beyond her personal struggles, Teigen and her family were recently forced to evacuate their home due to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. While their Beverly Hills residence was spared, she described the experience as "surreal" and "scary" in an Instagram post.
As Teigen embarks on a new chapter free from smoking, she remains candid about her journey. Whether overcoming addiction or facing personal challenges, she continues to share her experiences with honesty—something her fans have come to appreciate.
