Two sub-inspectors from the Islamabad police, Ishtiaq Hussain and Asif Hayat, have been dismissed from service due to misconduct, incompetence, and unprofessional behaviour.
According to police sources, an inquiry was conducted by the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Inquiry and Investigation at the Police Headquarters regarding the two officers, who had recently been transferred from the Central Police Centre (CPC) to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) and Traffic Police, respectively.
Both officers were issued show-cause notices during the investigation. Upon its completion, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Line Headquarters Syed Ali Raza sent an official communication to eight other relevant departments, including the AGPR and DIG Security Police Line Headquarters. The letter outlined the charges of misconduct, unprofessional conduct, incompetence, and repeated negligence and dereliction of duty.
The AIG Inquiry and Investigation completed its inquiry, recommending strict departmental action. The investigation revealed that despite being summoned personally by the AIG for questioning, neither officer provided satisfactory explanations or made any significant effort to improve their professionalism in the department. Furthermore, they had been warned several times by senior officers, who had given them opportunities to reform and demonstrate their commitment to duty. However, they failed to take these opportunities seriously and, instead, allegedly attempted to influence the inquiry through various means.
After reviewing the findings, the DIG concluded, "Given the circumstances, I believe that dismissing them from service is a fair and merit-based decision. I hereby order their immediate dismissal from employment."
