Lahore weather update: How long will rain continue?
Lahore has been experiencing light, intermittent rain over the past night, bringing cooler temperatures and a welcome respite to the city during the holy month of Ramadan, Express News reported.
According to the Meteorological Department, the rain-bearing weather system affecting Lahore and parts of Punjab is expected to continue for some time.
Light rain is forecast to persist throughout the day today, although the intensity is expected to ease by the evening. As the system moves on, weather conditions should start to improve, with clear skies likely by tomorrow.
The rain has brought cooler weather, much appreciated by the city’s residents, though it has caused some disruptions.
The administration has mobilised teams to ensure that roads and underpasses remain clear, while also issuing precautionary measures for travellers.
In contrast, Thandiyani, Nathiagali, Donga Gali, Ayubia, and other hilly areas of Abbottabad received the heaviest snowfall of the season, with up to three feet in some areas.
Temperatures plunged below freezing, blocking most link roads in Galiyat, including the main Abbottabad to Murree route.
The Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) deployed four snow-removal machines to clear the roads, with support from Rescue 1122 and traffic police.
The road from Bara Gali to Nathia Gali has also been cleared. Authorities have set up information points at Harno and Barian to assist tourists.
Meanwhile, Kaghan Valley and Shogran are covered in up to one foot of snow, and Naran received up to three feet. The continuous snowfall and rain have replenished dried-up natural springs and rivers.
