Blake Lively’s defamation lawsuit against Justin Baldoni suffered a setback when a New York court blocked her request for over two years’ worth of personal data from the actor.

As per DailyMail, Lively had subpoenaed her It Ends With Us co-star, seeking texts, call logs, and other communication records from December 2022 onward, as part of her legal battle. However, federal Judge Lewis Liman ruled that the request was 'overly intrusive and disproportionate', potentially including sensitive information unrelated to the case.

Lively, 37, claimed that obtaining these records could help identify the broader network behind a negative media campaign against her, which she alleges began in August 2024. The judge questioned the necessity of the two-year period, as the alleged harassment only started in 2024. He also noted that the vast amount of data requested could involve third-party communications and private matters unrelated to the case.

Despite the ruling, Judge Liman did not dismiss the subpoenas entirely but instructed Lively to narrow her demands. Baldoni’s legal team had also sought to block requests for similar materials from third parties, but that motion was denied by the court.

This legal conflict stems from Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment and defamation during the filming of It Ends With Us, a project that became a box office success. She claims Baldoni entered her trailer while she was topless, showed her graphic personal videos, and engaged in inappropriate behavior. Baldoni countersued, accusing Lively of manipulating the media and twisting the meaning of text messages to damage his reputation.

The ongoing lawsuit is set for trial in March 2026, while both sides continue to release documents and public statements regarding their feud.
