Tennis: Watson ousts Arvidsson

QUEBEC CITY: Britain’s Heather Watson ousted Swedish fifth-seed Sofia Arvidsson 7-5, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the $220,000 WTA Quebec City Challenge. Watson advanced to a matchup against Austrian third-seed Tamira Paszek, who outlasted American Varvara Lepchenko 6-7, 6-3, 7-6. Canadian fourth-seed Rebecca Marino advanced by beating compatriot Aleksandra Wozniak 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. She will next face Dutchwoman Michaella Kracjicek, who ousted France’s Julie Coin 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.
