Pakistan has become the first team to be eliminated from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, after suffering defeats in their opening two matches, first to New Zealand and then to India.

India and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals from Group A, while Pakistan and Bangladesh, both having lost two matches, are now out of the tournament.

A match is still scheduled between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Thursday. Currently, Bangladesh holds third place in the group, while the host nation and defending champions, Pakistan, sit at the bottom with two losses and a poor net run rate.

Ahead of the tournament, the ICC had announced a 53% increase in the prize pool compared to the 2017 Champions Trophy. However, with Pakistan’s early exit, the question arises, what will the team receive from the prize pool?

According to the ICC, the winner of the Champions Trophy 2025 will take home $2.24 million along with the trophy, with the final decision on the victor set to be made on March 9. The runner-up will receive $1.12 million while teams that lose in the semi-finals will each receive $560,000.

So what will Pakistan receive?

According to ICC, teams that win a group stage match in the ICC Champions Trophy are set to earn more than $34,000. However, Pakistan has yet to secure a victory and is not eligible for this prize unless they beat Bangladesh in their final group match, which would earn them this sum.

If Pakistan finishes in fifth or sixth place, they could be awarded $350,000, while finishing in seventh or eighth place could earn them $140,000. The final amounts will depend on the results of other matches in the group stage.

However, Pakistan will not leave empty-handed. The ICC has promised to award every team participating in the tournament, including Pakistan, $125,000 simply for being part of the event. Therefore, Pakistan is guaranteed this amount, regardless of their final standing in the competition.
