Kylian Mbappe will be absent from Copa del Rey semifinal for Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappé has been left out of Real Madrid’s squad for the Copa del Rey clash vs Real Sociedad after extraction.

Kylian Mbappé has been excluded from Real Madrid’s squad for their Copa del Rey semifinal first leg against Real Sociedad on Wednesday after undergoing a tooth extraction earlier this week.

Despite coach Carlo Ancelotti stating on Tuesday that Mbappé would travel with the team, the French forward was missing from Madrid’s official matchday squad.

The absence comes as a surprise given Mbappé’s impressive form, having scored 14 goals in 2025, including a hat trick against Manchester City in the Champions League last week.

Joining Mbappé on the sidelines are goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and midfielder Federico Valverde. Courtois, who usually does not appear in Copa del Rey games, was not expected to play, while Valverde is being rested after featuring against City while not fully fit.

Madrid faces a demanding schedule, with a LaLiga fixture at Real Betis this weekend followed by a Champions League round-of-16 showdown against Atlético Madrid.

The winner of the tie will face the winner between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, who drew the first leg 4-4 in an extraordinary game.
