Who is Amy Gleason, DOGE's acting administrator appointed by White House?

The Trump administration confirmed Amy Gleason, a former US Digital Service official, as the acting administrator of the newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

A White House official, speaking anonymously, revealed that Gleason, who most recently served as the chief product officer at Nashville-based Russell Street Ventures, is overseeing DOGE's operations.

Her LinkedIn profile indicates that she worked as a digital services expert at the US Digital Service during Trump's first term.

The administration had been hesitant to reveal the DOGE administrator's identity for several weeks. Earlier, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declined to comment, saying, "I’m not going to reveal the name of that individual from this podium."

Elon Musk, the billionaire tech entrepreneur and informal adviser to President Trump, has been publicly linked to DOGE but in an unclear capacity. Musk’s involvement has raised concerns, especially in ongoing lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of DOGE’s actions, including its access to Treasury Department systems. Despite the ongoing rumors, White House officials have insisted that Musk does not serve as the administrator of DOGE.

However, Trump himself seemingly contradicted those claims during a financial conference in Miami last week, stating that he had “put a man named Elon Musk in charge” of DOGE. This has led to further speculation about Musk’s role.

As of Tuesday, it is unclear when exactly Gleason was appointed as acting administrator or the nature of her collaboration with Musk in the department’s operations. Her LinkedIn profile currently lists her as a senior adviser at the US Digital Service since January.

Meanwhile, over 20 members of the former Digital Service resigned on Tuesday, issuing a letter criticizing Musk for attempting to “dismantle critical public services.” Prior to her appointment, Gleason had been working as chief product officer at two small Nashville-based health care startups, Russell Street Ventures and Main Street Health, according to her LinkedIn.
