The Philadelphia Eagles are prepared to accept a White House invitation following their Super Bowl victory, marking a departure from their 2018 stance under former President Donald Trump.

The Eagles, who secured their second Super Bowl title in seven years with a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month, are keen to make the visit should they receive the expected invitation.

"We would be honoured to visit the White House," a club source told OutKick. "It's one of the things we had looked forward to doing, and we look forward to receiving the invitation."

Awaiting an Official Invite

While a formal invitation from the White House has yet to be issued, the expectation remains that President Trump will extend one.

The visit would contrast with the events of 2018, when the Eagles’ planned White House trip was cancelled amid controversy surrounding player protests during the national anthem.

At the time, several Eagles players had chosen not to attend, leading to a scaled-down visit before the White House ultimately rescinded the offer.

This year, however, the circumstances are different, with no such protest movement at the forefront and a shift in political support among various voter demographics, including in traditionally Democratic strongholds such as Philadelphia.

False reports on Eagles’ decision

Earlier this month, reports suggested the Eagles had voted against attending the White House. Commentators, like Megyn Kelly, criticised the decision. However, OutKick founder Clay Travis refuted the claims, confirming that no such decision had been made.

Trump, known for his affinity for sports, attended the Eagles’ Super Bowl win and has previously welcomed athletes to the White House.

The Florida Panthers were the first team to visit during his second term after winning the 2024 Stanley Cup, and golfer Tiger Woods, a 2020 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, has also maintained ties with the president.

Team Decision on White House Visit

Eagles captain Lane Johnson stated that the decision to attend would ultimately be a "team decision" should Trump extend an invite. The visit would likely include owner Jeffrey Lurie, a known supporter of the Democratic Party, who may present Trump with a personalised Eagles jersey as part of the ceremony.

With the Eagles signalling their willingness to attend, the White House invitation is now anticipated, setting up what could be a notable moment in the intersection of politics and sports.
