Foreign tourists stranded in Kaghan rescued

Two foreign tourists who lost their way while snow skating in the tourist spot of Sri Paye in the Kaghan Valley were rescued.

According to police and Kaghan Development Authority officials, two foreign tourists lost their way while skating on Sri Paye and reached the base of Mount Makra. When they could not find a way back and darkness fell, the two tourists spent the night at the base of Mount Makra in sub-zero temperatures and more than four feet of snow.

On receiving information about the tourists losing their way, District Police Officer Shafiullah Gandapur himself reached the spot and after a 19-hour long search operation on the deserted and dangerous paths at the foot of Sri Paye and Mount Makra, along with the Kaghan Development Authority, Tourism Police and the administration, rescued the two tourists at the base of the mountain and shifted them to Shogran.

There is currently three feet of snow in Sri Paye and four feet at the base of Koh Makra and the temperature is below freezing point, from where a search operation was conducted till late at night and the tourists were evacuated and shifted to a safe place.
