The season 2 premiere of 1923 paid a heartfelt tribute to late actor Cole Brings Plenty, who played Pete Plenty Clouds in season 1.

The 27-year-old actor was found dead in Kansas in April 2024, just days after being reported missing and named a suspect in a domestic violence investigation.

As the highly anticipated second season began streaming on Paramount+, the episode opened with an "In Memoriam" dedication featuring Brings Plenty’s photo, honoring his contribution to the show.

His character, Pete Plenty Clouds, has been recast, with actor Jeremy Guana stepping into the role. Guana previously appeared in 1883, another prequel in the Yellowstone universe. Pete is the son of Hank Plenty Clouds (Michael Greyeyes), who played a pivotal role in helping Teonna (Aminah Nieves) reunite with her father, Runs His Horse (Michael Spears).

Brings Plenty, the nephew of Yellowstone star Mo Brings Plenty, was reported missing on April 2, 2024, after failing to attend a meeting with his agent. Hours later, he was named a suspect in a domestic violence incident. Authorities responded to reports of a woman screaming for help at an apartment, and Brings Plenty was identified as the suspect before being seen leaving the city.

Three days later, his body was discovered in a rural area of Kansas, near an unoccupied vehicle. His passing left fans and colleagues mourning, leading 1923 to honor his memory in its latest season.

Season 2 of 1923 is now streaming on Paramount+.
