PDMA predicts rain, snowfall in hill stations

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has predicted thundershowers and snowfall in the hill stations from Tuesday in upper districts of the province.

Rain and snowfall are likely to continue from February 25 to March 2.

According to the PDMA, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Batagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak and Kohat are also likely to experience intermittent rain and snowfall in the mountains.

It has issued a letter to all district administrations to pre-emptively deal with any untoward incident due to rain and snowfall. In the letter, the district administration has also been directed to ensure the availability of small and large machinery to handle any untoward incident.

People have been instructed to stay away from electric wires, dilapidated buildings and constructions, signboards and billboards during rains.

Through the PDMA letter, farmers have been advised to plan their routines keeping in view the weather forecast.
