Dismantling Bangladesh

The veteran pacer exploited the conditions expertly, striking at key intervals to derail Bangladesh’s innings.

Shami made his first breakthrough early, dismissing Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto cheaply. He then returned in the middle overs to remove the well-set Soumya Sarkar, breaking a crucial partnership.

As Bangladesh looked to push towards a competitive total, Shami’s reverse swing proved decisive in the death overs. He claimed two wickets in his final spell, including the crucial dismissal of Towhid Hridoy, who had anchored the innings with a century.

His disciplined line and ability to generate movement troubled the Bangladeshi batters, ensuring India restricted them to a chaseable total.
