Avery Woods, TikTok influencer and host of the podcast CHEERS! with Avery Woods, sparked controversy after a joke she made about Jesus in the February 10 episode went viral.
During a conversation with Too Hot to Handle star Harry Jowsey, Woods commented on how women often post Bible verses in their social media bios. The remark, intended as a joke, unsettled many listeners and led to significant backlash.
This girl, Avery Woods (who isn't religious btw) , said on her podcast how Jesus is going to bend over the haters who leave hate comments but on their bio's they have scriptures, and fuck them and than proceeds to laugh!!. pic.twitter.com/CgWej5ZKA1

In response, Woods issued a public apology on TikTok, expressing regret for crossing a line with her comment. She explained that her podcast is intended to be comedic but acknowledged that certain topics, especially religion, require more sensitivity. “This is one of those things where I never ever want to offend people and their beliefs,” she said, emphasizing her remorse for offending anyone.
Woods further explained that the episode with Jowsey had been scripted by producers, suggesting that some of the content was not entirely her own. However, she admitted that she should have spoken up and toned down her remarks. She clarified that her joke about women with Bible verses in their bios was targeted at those who criticize her online, many of whom send her hateful messages. “I need to remember that my sarcasm and my comedy is not going to be the same as other people’s,” Woods said.

While Woods continues to maintain a strong following across social media, her controversial comments on religion have raised questions about the limits of humor and the importance of respect in public discourse.
