KARACHI:

While police investigation is ongoing, the brutal murder of 23-year-old Mustafa Amir, who was abducted from DHA on January 6, remains shrouded in mystery.

Police have yet to determine whether Mustafa was killed in Karachi or burned alive in his car in the Hub Chowki area. The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) are pursuing leads in the gruesome case.

According to police, modern weapons were recovered from the bungalow of the primary accused, Armaghan. The CTD has been tasked with tracing the origins of these weapons. The AVCC has sought help from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to analyse the data from 64 laptops found at the accused's residence, hoping to find crucial evidence.

A recently surfaced CCTV footage shows Mustafa leaving his home for the last time in a black car at around 6.30pm on January 6. His mother said that his mobile phone was switched off about an hour later, raising suspicions about the timeline of his abduction.

To establish the cause of death, police have decided to exhume Mustafa's body for a post-mortem and DNA analysis.

In a separate development, Mustafa Amir's mother has strongly criticised the SP Investigation South, Ali Hassan, for alleged negligence in handling her son's case.

In a video statement, she accused SP Hassan of inaction for 20 days, during which police allegedly focused on defaming her son instead of finding him.
